Competition process for SkillELECTRIC 2009 (in England and Wales)
Stage 1 - identifying your best candidate
- Colleges and employers should use the 'Skill M&E talent spotting checklist' to identify suitable candidates and then, if needed, run in-house competitions to select their best competitor.
- Entry forms to register best competitors should be submitted by 31 March 2009.
Stage 2 - assessing the candidate
- Spring 2009: an independent assessment of all nominated candidates is undertaken to test their underpinning knowledge and practical appreciation.
Candidates need to fall within the age parameters and work standard set by WorldSkills UK (for WorldSkills 2011 candidates will need to be born on or after 01 January 1989)
Stage 3 - regional skills competitions (England and Wales)*
- Summer 2009: assessed candidates will compete in regional heats . The practical competition specification will be issued prior to the events.
Stages 2 and 3 may be combined, depending on volume of entries

Stage 4 - UK final skills competition

Autumn 2009: the highest scoring candidates from across the four nations will compete in the UK final organised by SummitSkills. The practical competition specification will be issued prior to the events.
Stage 5 - WorldSkills selection

There may be an opportunity for the top candidates from the UK final to be invited to the UK Skills selection event*.
*Candidates need to fall within the age parameters and work standard set by WorldSkills UK.
What you need to do now
If you think you have someone (or a number of people) that fit the bill, we want you to nominate them for SkillELECTRIC. This is how it works:

Use the talent spotting checklist to narrow down a shortlist of potential candidates.

Carry out the in-house competition to select your best candidate from the shortlist.

Complete the entry form (England & Wales) with your competitor's details and return it to us by 31 March 2009.
